Using UMDGEN

So yeah, now on to using UMDGEN. I understand the basic functionality of the software but I think I am a bit unclear as to how to access the UMD directly. The suggestion has been made to use USBSSS which I have and will be messing around with shortly. Does UMDGEN (4.0 is what I have) offer a way to access the UMD?

The situation is weird, due to differing dates and releases of new things, it seems that some methods have been made obsolete. Let me know if you have seen a good up to date tutorial for making backups.

Thanks,

I use the dax dumper and then I load the iso into compression software/ psp... w/e one I feel like using.

UMDGEN is very useful for taking out/ dummying files from the UMD that you have already dumped. I don't think you can connect your psp via usb/ card reader and use UMDGEN on the spot. I am pretty sure you need a backup first.
