[Tutorial] de-brick custom firmware/ recovery(update)

3.03 oe-c/3.10 oe-a/2.71se-c Recovery, for those of us who have bricked or just dont like custom firmware.

#1 step,getting the files:
First off we need some files ,for now just download them and dont worry about what they are ,we will get to that later

PSP 1.5 eboot > http://www.pspbrew.com/?page=fileInfo&cid=5296&d=900

Winrar> http://www.rarlab.com/rar/wrar37b1.exe

PSP Recovery folder,to get this folder it is a little harder then i thought it was, every one was saying this was suppose to come
with the 303.oe-b custom firmware,so far after downloading from 3 sites (one of which of DAX's site) i have not found this,
so we most download an old version of DAX custom firmware to get this folder,go to this URL< http://exophase.com/files/psp/sec.rar > and download the file,
it will have the recovery folder we need.

WARNING!!!Before you start any of the steps to come, make sure you're PSP is fully charged !AND! running off the ac power supply.WARNING!!!
WARNING!!! this can brick you're PSP if the battery dies,or you miss a step so please read carefully (Brick means rendering the PSP use-less) WARNING!!!

Ok thats all the folders we need, lets get started.

(As a side note you are going to need to have Winrar installed to unzip some of the folders that we need,or some other rar unzip program,
to install simply open the installer and read what it says to do).

END STEP 1.

_______________________________________________

#2 Step.Getting the psp ready:

First things first we need you're PSP to cold boot ,we can do this by holding the power button 'till the PSP turns off.
Once that is done,we turn the power back on,and at the same time we hold down the "R" button,
this will launch the recovery mode of the custom firmware we have installed.
once the recovery mode menu is up, click "X" on "USB connection".

END STEP 2.

______________________________________________________

#3 Step.To the pc:

Now we get to the folders we downloaded.
Back on the PC
after unzipping the folder "sec"(this is the old version custom firmware) (using winrar) open it up and go into "flasher for recovery" ,
and you will see the "RECOVERY" folder,
copy it to you're PSP in the game folder x/psp/game

END STEP 3.

_______________________________________________________________

#4 Step.The 1,5 eboot:

Now for the 1.5 eboot(the sony update),
right click on the 1.5 eboot (Eboot.pbp)and rename it to "update.pbp",caps are not needed(and for some reason if the caps are on recovery seems not to work on 3.10 oe-a) ,then place it in the recovery folder that s already on the PSP.

END STEP 4.

______________________________________________________________________

#5 Step.Back to the PSP:

Now we are ready to start the downgrade/de-bricking

Back to the PSP ,click x to exit USB mode.
Now scroll down to "Run program at /psp/game/recovery/eboot.
Click x to run.

END STEP 5.

___________________________________________________________________________________

#6 Step.The recovery program:

After a bit it comes up and asks you if you want to keep going and asks you if you agree to the danger of writing to the flash. (this can brick you're PSP if you do not know what you're doing)
If you have changed you're mind and don't want to keep going then hit "R" to dis-agree ,if you do want to keep going then hit "X" to agree.

While the program is running to not take out the ac adapter,do not hit and buttons ,do not power down, and of these will turn you're psp into a brick.

END STEP 6.

_________________________________________________________________________________________________

#7 Step. Waiting...:

Once we are under way some other text pops up on the screen telling you how far it is done and what it is doing, dont mind this, let it do its job go get a drink or something
The whole downgrade/de-brick takes about 10 to 15 minutes.

END STEP 7.

__________________________________________________________________________________________________________

#8 Step.Manually restart psp:

After it has finished with the downgrade/de-brick it will have some text that say "restart PSP manually" (meaning it is done working and its now safe to restart) Same as we did before ,
hold the power button tell the PSP turns off,hit the power button again to re-boot.

END STEP 8.

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

#9 Step.re-enter settings on downgraded psp:

Now for the scary part ,after it boots you get the blue screen of death (X_X) now don't pee you're shorts as i did, simply hit "O" to re-enter settings,it will reboot,re-enter you're settings ,Thats it we are good to go . :D
Welcome back to 1.5.

END STEP 9.(final step)

_______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

I look forward to your next tutorial. Last time I downloaded an x-flash program, the readme.txt was very poorly written. Can't get mad at Art because the program is great, but you have to wonder why he doesn't just take some time out to write a good readme for his app. Writing THAT is the EASY part lol

asddasit~ I like the work that you do here. I like that you respected my request for a tutorial and that you recovered your psp ;)! However, I feel that your tutorial is just a little bit open/ winded. If you would please write out specific steps with numbers.......

1. download this
2. put the file here

^ like that....... then I would be more than happy to sticky this. I just don't want people to possibly miss a step b/c for beginners, it is very important/ new to them and (I know I do this sometimes) checking off the numbers as you go along is a much safer thing to do.

Hope you don't mind

Now just change your other one a little bit ;) I like it better now. You should maybe put lines to separate them as well, like this
_____________________________________________________________________________________

It is just my personal preference, really, but it definitely looks more professional. I will make this a sticky, and if you don't feel that any change needs to be made, and I do, then I will just make a few minor edits, no biggie.

sticky ;)

Thanks for fixing the link asddasit, I kinda run the nightshift around these forums, so I miss activity during the day.

any update is an update, no matter how small. You update will stop questions like, "can this be used for 3.10 oe-a??" lol, so good job.
