revert back to an official firmware?

Hey My kids psp needs to be reverted back to the official firmware so that it can be taken back to best buy for warranty service. Is this possible? is there a chance it will brick it? Is there a guide im not seeing? Thanks for the help in advance.

It's safe and easy. Just download the latest update with the Network Update icon in the XMB. It'll download the update and run. :D

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

but once you get it back... no more CFW. what firmware he on? if anything, fake it. theres programs that fake it for 5.00 m33. just have it say 6.20 or something.

or download an update for the same firmware hes on, unless its a psp 1000

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

basically i need to take it back to best buy and exchange it because i have the extended warranty. the disk drive doesnt spin anymore. I doubt they will exchange it with a custom firmware on it. The problem i am having is that when i either try and put the OFW through the network update it tells me i have the latest version already. When i download the latest version and try to update it manually it says i have version 9.00 already and no need to update. I have 5.50 GEN-D (full).

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

I would suggest checking out your recovery menu. I know on 5.00M33, you can change a setting to say you have another firmware than you actually do. Mine says 7.77 or something like that.

He said he already tried but got a message saying he was already up-to-date.

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

make an MMS for 5.00m33 and itll give you an option to do 5.00 OFW. every pandora firmware does. go find a Pandora tutorial and rains ultra MMS maker for 5.00m33 and have at it.

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

From working in stores like best buy. My experience if you actually got the warranty is theyll just test to see if a game works and swap it. never checked to see if it had custom firmware on it. They aren't crime scene investigators

Re: revert back to an official firmware?

Plus if it does have cfw on it, you are trying to fix your PSP to play legit UMD games and not illegal ISOs so I don't see the problem.
