Multiplayer with One Disc
From PSPWiki
From the Sony PSP FAQ[1] (http://www.us.playstation.com/psp.aspx?id=faq#9):
- What is game sharing?
- Some software titles may support a "Game Sharing" feature that allows you to share pieces of a game you have with another PSP system user wirelessly even if the other person does not have the same game. The data that you share with another PSP system will only be available while the PSP system is still on.
What they don't tell you is that some games already support what they describe: playing a multiplayer game while only having one copy of the disc. While the games may not yet support the "game sharing" per Sony's intent, follow these instructions to play any game that supports multiplayer with only one disc, and doesn't perform any loading once the level is loaded:
- Load the game on one PSP.
- Using the game's menus, start a multiplayer Ad-Hoc game, set the timeout to unlimited so you have time to switch the disc out), and enter the game.
- Eject the disc, saying "No" when it asks if you wish to exit the game.
- Load the game onto another PSP
- Navigate the game's menus to multiplayer Ad-Hoc, and choose the server that the first PSP created, end enter the game.
- Repeat steps 3-5 for every PSP that wants to join the game, up to the total number of players that the game supports.
It is unknown who first tried and discovered this, but Sahas Katta (http://blogger.sahaskatta.com/) is generally credited with first publishing it. He had this comment to add:
"Also to be on the safe side I removed my memorystick to prevent any possible data loss if the unit freezes. Also when you want to exit the game it might freeze. And even trying to power off the unit might not work. To solve this problem just place the game into the frozen PSP and it will do some loading and then resume normally."
If the game asks you for a UMD and the game freeze, you only have to insert another UMD in the psp that freeze, or put tape in the UMD detect switch inside the UMD unit(you can see the photo of the switch location at http://www.wab.com)
