This does a nice job as a sort of "backup battery" and is supposed to hold enough power to recharge the PSP twice. I haven't tested that capacity. You can also hook the Power Brick inline between the regular AC adapter and the PSP, so you can be charging both of them at the same time (though, obviously, it will take longer) which is nice. I do hear a very quiet, high-pitched whine from the Power Brick when using it to charge/run the PSP; I assume that's from a capacitor discharging.

The high pitched whine is probably from a DC-DC converter with outputs the necessary 5V to run the PSP.
