+ First Release

This is the first release, and is mainly to esure that the database code is rock solid. Any bugs found that arnt listed then email me at the address at the bottom of this readme.

2/ ABOUT~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Glyph was designed in my spare time to fill a gaping whole in my PSP usage. I am a huge fan of anime and manga, and filled my memory stick with full seasons of my favourites on a regular basis. This combined with the great idea of PSP "magazines" caused a problem. If youve got to copy half a season of a series onto your PSP you have to...

-1- Make sure they go in the right folder
-2- Make sure thier named correctly
-3- Find the episodes your looking for which, cause of the (Silly) naming system can be difficult.
-4- Use windows explorer to drag the files onto your PSP

So a solution sprang into my head. Design a Windows Media Player style app, that can handle organised groups of media. This was the foundation for the design of Glyph.

Imagine being able to move an entire series of your favourite show to your PSP in 2 mouse clicks, in the proper folders and named right. How bout an entire magazine/manga/photo album? All easy done with Glyph.

Right now im planning to build 2 versions of this software, a Free version and a "Toolbelt" version

  FREE

This version will be free to download (hence the imaginitive name) and do all the basic functions that you would expect from a WMP style app.

@ Fully featured DB system for organising media
@ Ability to group media together for easy transfer
@ Transfer of media to correct folders and automatic naming to correct format

  "TOOLBELT"

This version will be availible to download for a small fee, and will be able to be the center of all your PSP media needs. Planned features include all the features of the Free version plus...

@ Photo manipulation tools (format conversion, rotating/resizing of pictures to fit on PSP screen vertically etc)
@ Music format conversion & MP3 tags editing from the main interface.
   @ Video Conversion / Ripping

The fine details of the "Toolbelt" version are not definate yet, and are subject to change.

3/ INSTALL~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

The install program is pretty standard, so just follow the on-screen instructions and you should be fine.

If you start getting errors when running the program, do a google search for the Visual Basic 6 Runtime files, download and install them. Should clear up most errors.

4/ BASIC USE~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

First time running Glyph should show a wizard to get everything set up for you. Just follow the onscreen instructions and you should be fine.

 ADDING MEDIA TO THE DB
 ----------------------

Go to the file menu, then Add to DB, then Add File or Add Folder depending on what you want to add.

 GROUPING MEDIA
 --------------

Select the items you want to group, right click on one of them and select relevent group option from the menu. Give it a name and hit ok, and it should appear under the relevent group list.

 TRANSFERRING TO PSP
 -------------------

Drag the items you want to transfer over to the right hand list box and drop them. Make sure your PSP is showing on the PSP status box at the bottom left and then hit "Send to PSP"

5/ FAQ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Q/ I'm getting errors when running Glyph!

A/ Do a google search for the Visual Basic 6 Runtime files, or check my website (below), and download and install them. Should clear up most errors.

Q/ Glyph cant find my media!

A/ Glyph (currently) only adds media to the DB that is compatible with the PSP. This includes files with the extentions..

	VIDEOS
	.mp4

	MUSIC
	.mp3
	.wma

	PHOTOS
	.jpg
	.jpeg
	.gif
	.tiff
	.png

Q/ When my videos are added to the DB, their names are in the "M4V100??.MP4" format!

A/ Until i can figure out how to pull the names from the video file that are shown on the PSP, Glyph takes the files name as its name in the DB. This is usually done automattically by PSP video conversion tools (PSPVideo9 etc.), so it is advised that you rename your videos to a more appropriate name before adding them to your DB. They will be converted back to the correct name format when they are sent to your PSP

Q/ Whats the difference between the Magazine group and the Photo Album group?

A/ None at all, its there to help you organize your media easier. You can have any mixture of pictures in either group

6/ KNOWN BUGS~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* Background scanning for media is still a bit slow
* Expected keystokes for certain commands havnt been implimented yet (use of delete key to remove a file from DB / Transfer List for example)
* Remaining / Used space on PSP is sometimes displayed wrong
* Progress bar on Copy dialog is sometimes innaccurate, or stops totally, even though the copy completes successfully

7/ PLANNED FEATURES~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

* AutoSync feature, to allow you to set up files to be transferred automattically to your PSP when you connect it to your PSP, and can be split up over a certain time period (eg 3 episodes of a series every 2 days, with the previous 3 episodes removed when the new ones are added)
	--Planned for next release

* Add ability to change media and group information in the DB view (name/artist/album)
	--Next Release

* Add ability to add in groups from a .zip file (eg a magazine)
	--Next Release (possibly)

* Storage of names of videos on PSP so that they are shown instead of M4V100??.MP4
	--Next Release (possibly)

* Add in keystroke shortcuts (Delete, Menu commands etc,)
	--Next Release

* Add the first part of the photo manipulation tools to the Toolbelt version
	--First Toolbelt release

* Decent user manual
	--Not a priority
