# HideMedia BETA II #

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
 HideMedia (previously HideMov) is a PRX module for use with one of Dark_AleX's OE firmwares that stops the PSP's media menu's from finding any files until a button combination is pressed.
 When launched with the XMB, the module forces the PSP to be unable to find any files, so it just returns: "There are no xxxx's". When the button combination is pressed, the PRX lets the menus find you files again, and you can listen/see/watch your media at will!
 For extra security, you can re-disable the files with another button combination. With this utility, you can prevent people from rooting around your personal stuff with ease!
Unfortunately, I'm unable to call this anything but a BETA. This is because it still doesn't work how I would like it to:
- Write to the PSP's memory instead of the memory stick. Faster, more reliable. If you can help me with this, please give me a buzz: piers[dot]jones[at]gmail[dot]com.
- The PSP cache'ing of files make an inconvenience. (See below). Again, if anyone can help me with this, drop me a line: piers[dot]jones[at]gmail[dot]com.
-----------------------------------------------------
WARNING!
~ If you've entered any media menu while it's in one state (shown or hidden, and then you switch it, nothing will seem to have changed if you immediately open the video menu (the PSP cache's it).
To "update" the menus, just go into the memory stick option of another feature, and the cache will be cleared! (Thus the other menus will have updated)
I'm trying to find a way around the problem.
~ This isn't completely secure. If someone knows what they're doing, they can disable the module from the OE recovery menu!
 Hopefully, the fact that I've named the module "module.prx" should fool the slightly-more dimwitted.
~ Although in this version, I've tried to improve firmware compatibility, I've still designed it to run on 3.10 OE-A('). If you experience problems with this version in older firmwares, please say so in the comments section of the QJ or PSP3D release thread, as I won't be reading anything other than them.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Changes:
HideMedia BETA II-
- Now hides video (including VIDEO folder), music, photo, game (GAME, GAME150, GAME303, GAME310), Browser bookmarks, savedata (Warning: Unhide files before launching a UMD game or it won't be able to find them).
- HOPEFULLY increased compatibility for older OE firmwares.
HideMov BETA (initial release)-
- Hid video files in MP_ROOT with button combination. Buggy.
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Button Combi's while in the XMB:
[Home] + [L trigger]           =           Show/unlock media files
[Home] + [R trigger]           =           Hide/lock media files
--------------------------------------------------------------------
Instructions:
1. Run the EXE in the autoinstall folder (Windows), or for other OS's, extract the contents of "ManualInstall" to the root of the memory stick.
2. Open ms0:/SEplugins/VSH.txt with notepad or another text editor. If it doesn't exist, create a zero-byte, empty txt file (not a .DOC or anything) named VSH.txt in ms0:/SEplugins and open it.
3. Add the following line to the file:
"ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/module.prx" (no quotes)
(If you've placed the module somewhere else for manual install for whatever reason, change the above line.).
4. Disconnect your PSP from USB and boot into recovery mode by holding [R] at startup. Go to "Plugins" and press [X].
Find the line that says "ms0:/PSP/SYSTEM/module.prx" (or whatever you changed it to), and press [X] on it, so it says "enabled".
5. Exit recovery, and you will boot into the XMB. The media folders will be hidden at every startup. To unlock, press [Home]+[L]. To re-lock, press [Home]+[R]. Please see the first warning in this readme.
