DVD playback for moded Wii's

Wiivision from the WiiNewz forum and Admin of wiivision.org has apparently been able to develop a GC homebrew application allowing the playback of DVD movies in the Wii. The use of this application would still require a swap method, having the GC Linux and DVD playback app on a disc, then swaping in the DVD movie. There is no release date for this application as of now, and there will not be an ETA until, as Wiivision states, "I can confirm all attributes are fully functioning. I'm not keen on the idea of broken promises."

So far, there is single and double layer DVD support.
Right now it seems he is working on multi-language and subtitle support.
Some basic controls have already been mapped for the GC controller.
Since this application is still in the works, there should be many more changes to come.

Here's a screen shot of an older version of the application. Image

This screen shot has been highly disputed as being a fake, with a google image search of "matrix reloaded menu" coming up with the EXACT same picture shown in the screen shot.

There is also a low quality video released by Wiivision that is supposedly a newer version of the application with the application menu taken out to save memory for DVD decoding.

This video is also disputed as being fake, with people arguing there is no evidence the GC controller is actually controlling anything, and a real DVD player with a remote in the other hand is not being used.

This would certainly not be the first fake Wii release with video, so only time will tell if this application is real. However, if this application does turn out to be real there will be a lot of happy Wii users.
