game genie on nes and snes emulators

I was wondering if there is any working way on how to input a game genie rom into these emulators and actually have them work? I downloaded the one for nes and just the program opens but doesnt save the state of the code

As far as I know you can't run a game genie rom for codes. The emulator will have to have a built in cheat function to get any codes working. Seems like most emulators with code capability use action replay codes. Look up the specific emulators they have and check out their readme's for info on cheats. If it's not in there, then sorry to say, not gonna happen.
