Wii can't read wii sports disk that came with the system

Is the Wii sports the original disk that came with the system? Is the disk scratched or damaged in anyway?

If other things are consistently doing fine and Wii sports is consistently messing up, then it sounds like a problem with the disc. If it is not following a consistent pattern, then I would say there might be something wrong with the laser in the DVD drive.

Is there anyone else out there buying this old console today? Why is it even required?
