Anti Mod Update

So I dusted off my Wii last week after not using it since last Xmas.

I hooked it up and tried to do the network update thing but I got a warning that if there were any "Electronic Enhancements" that they may stop working. Oddly enough I had the option to refuse the update and did so.

Anyone out there with a chip ever have any issues after updating recently?

If you update from Nintendo's site, it will give you the latest menu, 3.3, which disables the Trucha Signer capability. The Twilight Hack has been updated to work with this version though. Some games might have 3.2, which is the furthest I would update. If you do go to 3.3, it's fine. Everything still works (except Starfall, a menu hack program).

Oh, and about the electronic device thing, it's nothing to worry about. Just a scare tactic from Nintendo. Nintendo has no way of detecting modchips at the moment. Besides, the Wii has been hacked up so much modchips are the least of their worries.

Thank you for your informative response.

Now my question is:

To update or not to update.

I still do not have a chip. Anyways, I may consider one as soon as some really kick a$$ homebrew comes out.

Check out the Brewpack Generator here. Theres plenty of homebrew there!
I guess it depends if there were any major updates that make you wanna update.

Well I have not updated in almost a year. Part of that is because the Wii is TERRIBLE with WiFi out of the box. I had my wireless router within inches and it still would not update. I know I can buy the extra adapter but why should I have to? It is almost like Nintendo knew the WiFi capabilities were crap!

My Wii has no trouble connecting to Wifi... I could connect when the router was on a different floor of the house.

This is my second Wii bought 12 months after my first. Both have been temperamental to connect.

I bought my first a week after release and the second about a year after that.

I also got mine about a week after release, when the second shipment hit the states.

That is odd. I guess it must be the router but I have no problems with any of my other networking devices.
