How to downgrade your PS3

Well I haven't tried this out yet because I am in a hurry but I thought I would post this up real quick.
I've been looking up about a lot of homebrew stuff for the ps3 (the nes emu stopped working with the 2.50 FW)
But it seems it is super ez to downgrade.
Just look here.

1. Download the wanted firmware
2. Rename it from XXX.PUP to PS3UPDAT.PUP
3. Copy the file on any external device, such as an MS, on the ms0:/PS3/UPDATE folder
4. Run it under the PS3. Done.

Sounds simple enough. Is there any homebrew for the ps3 other than the NES emu?

I've seen a SNES Emu but I haven't tried it - it is ran through linux. I'm guessing there is other homebrew that is playable through linux but I haven't played any of it.

welp....disregard that idea...the file size is too large for the "free" user to fully complete the download and atm I'm too cheap to spend the cash.lol.sorry guys.

Ok quick question. Is this downgrade done thru Linux or is it done under the XMB?
I tried doing this by doing System update > Update via storage media and get nothing.
I DL'ed the 2.43 and renamed it as instructed,then on my USB I made a folder PS3/UPDATE/PS3UPDAT.PUP.
Maybe I'm doing something wrong lol.

I'm stupid this won't work. I though I saw something about downgrading on the site but I went back and I guess not. You can't downgrade.. yet.
