Hey everyone, I've been scouring the net looking for some proper info for a few hours now, but I can't seem to find anything solid enough to get an answer. So I figured I'd ask the people who actually know what their talking about.

I have a 40GB PS3 model number CECHH01. I bought it off of my assistant manager from work he wanted the 160gb ps3 so he sold me his old one.

I just want to know if its B/C. I downloaded the old PS2 software off of the PSN that was supposed to run some PS2/PS games.
I've only tried 1 original PS game which was an old Spyro game that a friend of mine had lying around his place. The game starts up with the Playstation insignia and does the sound, but then freezes up and doesn't get passed that part. The game has some possibly game-play effecting scratches on it.

Thanks in advance.

Ok so far, my ps3 can run PS1 games. like legend of dragoon, and spyro 3. But I'd still like to know about PS2.

Thanks.

I'm sorry no, the 40 GB models don't play PS2 games =/. All PS3s however, play PS1 games.
The only ones that play PS2 games are the launch 20 GBs, the 60 GBs, and the MGS4 bundle PS3 (80GBs?).
There hasn't been a PS2 BC model in a while, it seems like Sony is going to put them up on the PS store for us to buy them and play them using software emulation.

Oh and the PS3's don't have full PS1 BC.

its only cuz its costs extra to put the EMOTION engine, which runs ps2 games. u should be able to dl them to your hdd, but i dont
know how much sony has screwed that up.

still waiting for in-game music from the hdd..........
