PS3 PKG Files Transfer

I have a slimline PS3 with the latest official firmware.

My home internet connection is REALLY slow, I live in the countryside and the fastest I can get out here is 1mb... it sucks! BUT I have 12mb at work! SOOO I was wanting to download files at work and then take them home to stick on my PS3 at home. Obviously I cant take my PS3 into work, my boss may just get annoyed at that.. So is there a way to take a PKG file from an external hard drive and send it to a PS3s hard drive? I don't want to use CFW and risk bricking my PS3, I do plan on buying another ps3 when i can find a cheap 2nd hand one and sticking cfw on that tho.

You should be able to download the PKGs to a USB drive and run them from there.
