I have heard the servers arent as good as they are on Xbox.
Also, you going over Ethernet or Wireless? There might be some interference over wireless

Server issues on the PS3 side have been fixed as of last Friday. It's your connection.

Most likely the servers got overloaded with the mass amount of people playing MW2, it ought to be fine in a couple of days.
My friend got it and said it was bad the first day but everyday after then he has hardly had any lag. I haven't played it yet so I can't say.
