Debate Topic: Celebrities

so heres the deal im bored and i figured id start a good ol fashioned good natured debate about Celebrities i for one could care less about who is hotter than who who is dating who who has a sex tape out who got put into rehab the only thing i care about is if 1. they can act and actually make me believe they are the char they are playing and 2. if they give substance to the role take for instance the movies that came out before majority of us were born (i say majority because idk how old every one on this site is :P) such as The Magnificent Seven Yul Brenner actually made me believe he was this bad donkey gunslinger that was also a brilliant tactician or any John Wayne The Duke actually made you believe he was the char hes playing

so now that ive said my piece id like everyone else to chime in on what they think what they look for in a celebrity and if they follow the tabloids and why

I could care less about celebrity gossip. I'm very bad with celebrity names; Whenever you tell me who is in a movie, I'm always like, "Huh? I don't know who that is."

im the same way when it comes to the gossip however if theres an actor that really sucks me into the role they are playing and makes me believe they are that person then ill try and find out who played what role take heath ledger for instance when i first saw him in 10 things i hate about you i was like "who is this guy hes good" and then in The Dark Knight as Joker he actually made me believe he was a psychotic person :P

Meh, I could care less as well about celebrities, unless it is actually a show I watch regularly I guess it would be nice to know if they sign a contract for the show again or not. I just don't find enjoyment in knowing so much about a persons life that you don't even know, I just don't get it.

Ace, I totally agree. It's great to know if someone is going to be in an upcoming film if you like them a lot. I can only name a handful of movie or television actors, but when you have someone like Steve Oedekerk, you've gotta look up all the information you can about him because he is that funny!

I laugh when I see celebrity magazines at the grocery store, and always think to myself "Does anyone really give a sh*t about this?" Who's having a baby, etc. For f*ck sakes, everyone breeds.

Maybe those are on shelves and in stores everywhere in the U.S., however I've never seen one in Canada.

That's very interesting. In the states, it seems people can't get enough of ignorant people with more money than them.

He was talking about magazines about stuff that is actually interesting, like bands or w/e, I think.
