Hunting Bears...

This thread was split from:
viewtopic.php?f=152&t=4564&start=1125. Instead of continuing to pollute the picture thread I thought I would continue in a new thread.

Yep. My cousin has a killer camera. Also shows everyone's imperfect face though, so we barely ever use it. haha That was in August this summer I believe. We didn't actually hunt in ghillie suits, we were just target shooting before we went out, and I thought it'd be fun. haha

We eat everything we kill; it's a lot harder than deer hunting, for sure. haha (hauling the buggers out of the Forrest is the hardest part)

Re: Hunting Bears...

Yea me and my buddy are trying to plan a bear trip next season in the appalachian's, this last season snuck up on us real quick and didn't get much done, didn't even get a deer this season :( I've only been deer hunting before, would also like to take my new ar coyote hunting sometime as well. But at least this winter is tolerable so we've been goin to the range a lot lately.

What caliber do you use for bear hunting?

300 Win mag. It was my cousin's Tikka T3 that we were using. He wanted to show it off, and I wanted to try it. So we both came out happy ;)

Haha. It's a fairly large long-range round. Perfect in my opinion for bears. :D

Re: Hunting Bears...

lol, I've never had any reason to shoot anything bigger than 30-06...yet. I'll just rock a bear with my bow ;) How'd you like the T3?

Re: Hunting Bears...

How do you make sure that the other bears don't come and attack when you're taking the one you took down out of the forest?

Never had it happen before. haha, If it did, I'm sure we'd just bag two bears instead of one. Survival of the fittest.

@ace Yeah, my buddy hunts with a compound bow. It's ridiculous, he goes out with three arrows and no other weapon. I wouldn't do it, what if you missed? haha. My uncle hunts with a black powder musket. Never really understood either of them ;)

We don't hunt like that up here. ;) It's not fair to use stands.
