Any tips for getting them to improve my latency on my connection? After I threatened to move to a competitor the lady seemed more willing to help me out. She checked to see if I was in a DSL outage (rofl I was talking to that idiot on my DSL connection).

Anyway, Im supposed to ring them up and let them try a connection test.

Well, I don't have any for that, but anytime you want to get a hold of a person fast on the phone, just push the button that says that you're wanting to be a new customer.

hehe... keep calling back until you get someone who knows something? or maybe ask to get escalated to the level of tech support.

Yeah, just say that you want level 2 tech support because you've called before and they are the only ones that can help you. If the person asks for more information, just say that it will be too complicated to explain the entire situation. Usually they will lazily do what you request.

Its sad actually, I got moved to the manager of the calling center that time. He said Latency/Ping did not matter at all and as long as it was under 100 milliseconds all was good. Arguments happened and he contradicted himself numerous times (and got mad when I called him out on it). So i gave up and said screw yall im going comcast lol.

O wow, yea that sounds like tech support :p What is your ping though? I have RR and it doesn't seem too bad, speedtest says usually two digit numbers although it seems to be mroe around 120ms-140ms on actual applications... I can't complain about the download speed even though I get like 17Mbps on the speedtests yet my actual dl speed starts up at 2MBps (what it should be) for a few seconds and then drops and caps at 800KBps Oh and I have the worst upload speed in the world so don't do RR if you plan on uploading anything...

I picked a server that seemed like a typical length that a server would be, since when I picked the Charlotte, NC server I had like 22Mbps dl speed and like 20ms XD

My Ping is ~60ms. For a good quality lag free internet it should be sub-20ms.

But I only have 3MBps. Thats ATTs next to best home internet- which, again, is sad seeing Comcast have up to 50MPbs, albeit on Cable connections.

That is pretty crazy, you could always get FiOS Of course it depends largely too if your cable is hooked up to a fiber optic backbone but since I can't get FiOS around here I doubt we have a fiber line anywhere close.

our att dsl is sh*t too.. spent 50 minutes on the phone with them yesterday. they really are pretty bad.

Verizon doesnt offer Fios here either And after my ATT experience I wont switch to UVerse(I like my dish network)

AT&T is pretty retarded. They won't let you have an iPhone without a dataplan. Very, very retarded. And they got rid of unlimited data! My fiancée has it still because she never changed it, and the lady stood there telling me that they never had that plan and then couldn't think of anything to respond with whenever I told her that Jess had that plan still. But, I was talking to her in person, not over the phone.

Luckily I've been using this iphone 3G for I think maybe 3 months so far with data turned off and I haven't had to pay for the data plan yet crait Although it would be nice to update it but O well. To be honest I just like it for the wifi a couple of apps that are just awesome though.

I would love to switch ISP's though, I wonder if getting one of the expensive modems from newegg would help with my upload speed?
