Forgive me for asking but who is Dark_Alex? Big PSP Hacker? or a group of hackers?

Dark_Alex is a notorious psp hacker that is responsible for making the custom firmwares. He has done a lot for the psp homebrew scene.

Anyone know him in person? Or where he is from.....I have seen his name on quite a few PSP related websites.
Are all PSPBREW hacks made by him?
Are there other major hacks available for PSPs?

He is a psp coder/ programmer from Spain. He doesn't make nearly all psp hacks but what he specializes in is making custom firmwares that give us features of version 1.50 psps while still getting newer features that newer firmwares provide. There are TONS of "major" hacks for the psp but it just means what you think major is. I personally think that there is some pretty groundbreaking stuff.

Thanks DarkPACMan. Always love your informative replies.
Thinking of using the downgrader on my PSP soon(following the Tutorials section). Just out of curiousity what is the survival rate for TA-082 with Version 2.71 PSPs?
Lastly, while downgrading, is there any way one can make a backup- to fall back on if things don't go very well (Murphy's law). I read something about recovery mode but don't think it is what I think it is.
Feel free to provide some links. Cheers!

Anyone wanna clarify the recovery mode? If its possible to have some kind of Backup so as not to brick a PSP completely? Cheers

just wanted to say, thank you for putting up the tutorial. i was kinda ify about downgrading my psp cause i new it was a TA-082. but you gave me the courage to try it with your nicely written tutorial and i am happy to say that i now have 2 psp's running 1.5 haven't gotten into the custom firmware yet. but i think i'll try one later.

Just be advised if you use my "clear flash0" tutorial that you follow instructions TO THE HILT b/c there have been a few bricks from it (but they were recovered)
