Easy 2.71 downgrader "Tutorial"by newpspdude

Hi There

i've give in to the fact i'm stuck with a 2.81 so i'm gonna buy a second hand older firmware or maybe a new 2.71 .

So what can be run on the 2.81 or is it only good for UMDs and putting in the draw till the FW gets hacked

Right i've got a 2.60

And I am about to downgrade to upgrade but the easy downgarader needs some files of a 1.5 user and i've got a dumb 2.81
and a 3.02 OE-A(which i'm also about to upgrade to 3.03 OE-B)
So for the 2.6 can i go upto 2.71 then go from there to 1.5 and so on?

from 2.71 SE you should be able to go straight to 3.02 OE A, Mailas claims to have done this himself, PM him and he should be happy to give you the files you need for that

yeah cheers but the thing is thats how i did the last one from a fw2.71 brand new psp and know how to and have all the bits to do it

i'm just not sure if there will be a difference because im going from 2.60 to 2.71 first (also would there be a problem if i used a UMD game to upto 2.71?)

Well 2.71 SE is custom firmware, a BIG difference from the Sony firmware.
im pretty sure you need the custom 2.71 SE firmware to upgrade, and i am also pretty sure you need 1.50 to get to 2.71 SE.
Your best bet is using the easy dowgrade from 2.71 to 1.50 and going from there. Because its the most tried and tested.
I dont quite understand what you mean by the UMD question? the custom firmware makes up for the UMD restrictions to that level. you should try to get all this done within a day or something, make sure you have restarted your PSP between upgrades and downgrades as well.

ok its running 2.60 and put in the UMD game and its asks to run upgrade to 2.71 from the game disc

its the same as my son did from 2.71 to 2.81 which i told him not to cos he left that one useless to me ay the minute so i got this 2.60

from the 2.71 i can do as i did with my 2.71 to get it up to 3.02OE-A as i know how

well either way you look at it, you need to be at 2.71 anyway, because you would need that to downgrade to 1.50 from there if not upgrade to 3.02 OE A, (its easier than from 2.60, apparently)
Now, i havn't much experience with upgrading from 2.71, if you did it yourself then sure thing, but are you sure you were using the Sony 2.71 and not the 2.71 SE? because as far as i know you shouldnt be able to upgrade to 3.02 OE A unless you are 1.50 or 2.71 SE... anyone else?

done it and am now in the middle of the down grade to 1.50 now on the other pc

DOWNGRADING A 2.71 HAS A 1 AND 10 CHANCE OF DOWNGRADING IF IT DOESNT DOWNGRADE THE 1ST IT WILL JUST RESTART

that is what the title says. This is pretty safe. If it doesn't work, it should just restart the psp and you can try again Not too much to worry about as long as you take all the necessary steps.

ya, there's almost no chance it'll brick. here are some tips so that it will downgrade 1in5 chances instead of 1and 10 chances:


- a freshley formatted, 32 mb memory stick and

- your ac adaptor is pluged in


(when i did it using theese tips i got it on my third try)
