They're called pronto hex codes. I think IRShell comes with many of the common ones, but if you need something in particular, goto this website and you should be able to find anything you want.

hopefuly this is my last question. how do you turn the codes from this website into usable programs for irshell? also when i open my "remotes" option under "ir remotes" it is still just showing me the text i cant use any of them. thanks for all your help guys and being nice to an anoying noob. o ya i tried to use the magnavox remote control and for some reason the d pad isnt doing anything. has this happend to anyone else? is it just a glich?

The slim doesn't have the IR sender thing so it can't use this :(.

It's good for many reasons. Basically, you can place a file on the PSP, along with certain homebrew outlined in this tutorial, and create a remote control for nearly any infrared device in the world.

Have an old tv that you lost the remote to? - download the pronto hex code for the model number tv you have and use the PSP as your remote!!! :D

You can control xbox, ps2, furby... pretty much anything. Have televisions at school or college that you attend? - want to mess with them anonymously? lol. Do so with the PSP. Hope that helps. This also only works for original model PSP's, not the slim and lites.

@Alan - IRshell has had a couple updates since the initial dating of this tutorial...its at version 4.8 now.

http://irshell.org/site/index.php?optio ... s&Itemid=8

I havent used this program for a couple years but i believe you need to install 4.7 and then install the 4.8 as it looks like 4.8 is just an update/add-on to 4.7

Had some fun restarting my girlfriends ps2 on her brothers and sisters with this program:lol:

*EDIT*
@Advent - I've updated your original post for the tutorial to include the 4.7 version as thats whats compatible with the newer firmwares.
