PSP 4000 - Your Thoughts

I came across this video on youtube...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gljlTiwrSxg

I personally like the second version shown on it.

What things would you like to see with the new PSP (if they ever get around to making one)

1. I wouldnt mind an updated flash/java so that we could watch and do anything we like on the browser.
2. Wouldnt mind them completely getting rid of the UMD drive and UMD Games and replacing it with just the store where you could download the games and store them on the mem stick. The extra space would also allow for a new slimmer version or allow them to update/add components.
3. More support for different video files.
4. An internalized camera for pictures as well as video.

Well, 1 and 3 can be implemented using firmware updates.
And I personally think 2 and 4 are dumb ideas.

What makes them dumb, and what would you do instead?

PSP-2000 is perfect in my opinion. (Hardware-wise)
I would add nothing.
Only a keyboard add-on is what I'd want to have.

But yeah, i wouldnt mind a keyboard add-on as well...something like in the vid i posted is cool...still like the sleekness of the second design better though.

Those designs are pale in comparison with this new ultra portable design...

And while this version isn't perfect, I think OLED is the wave of the future for portable gaming and PMP's.

Does that screen role up inside the tube? It looks cool, but not realistic in my view...i'll tell you why...

1. Where do all the components go that run the handheld system if the screen rolls up inside the tube?
2. Where would you store data, or insert a game (assuming its non downloadable games)
3. How would a bendable screen stay in place (not flop around while youre holding it)

well i think i can answer some of those questions lol

the screen would stay rigid due to the use of an integrated mesh in the screen that when pulled tight is rigid, the games would be on small cartridges like ds games only smaller and not quite as gay and third nano technology would be used for the internal components....

btw i know there are many flaws in my ideas dont shut me down lol

Apartently there are some materials that when an electric current is run through it make it rigid. This could be used to keep the screen upright.

I wasn't saying that this particular tube design was the best... but I was saying that some idea using OLED technology would introduce 'next-gen' portables. A more realistic design would to have a more rectangular shape. Using an OLED screen you could take the current PSP design and cut it in half!

UMD's are going to go away, it's inevidible. Flash technology is going to keep getting cheaper and with portable gaming it doesn't make sense NOT to use it.

i'm sure you dont need the powercord, the first picture in that thread shows it on without it. Try messaging folklord though and get him to help you out with it.

Last time I checked on that PSP "laptop" mod, the 360 chatpad wasn't even functional. There's one guy on acidmods I know that has gotten it to work, but its taken a lot of adapter fabrication and coding... not for the faint of heart.

I think you need to focus on some simpler mods before you even think about tackling something like this. Start doing more research and gain some knowledge before you waste your money on another impossible/impractical mod.
