I am getting an PSP from a kid. I dont know the firmware though.
this will be my first time modding

Everything you need is online. Be mindful of the version of PSP you will be given (Phat or slim).

There are many good tutorials out there, just make sure you take your time and read them carefully. I think most people have problems because they rush through and do not understand instructions clearly.
The programmers you will one day be looking to hire are the ones reading the tech news sites right now.

And they will remember...

If its a Fat, you're good to go. Lower firmwares; 3.50 and lower can be modded via Game exploits (buffer overruns on their game saves allowing arbitrary code to run) And all firmwares can be modded with a pandora battery and magic memory stick. All this stuff can be found in our tutorial section though more specifically in the starters guide.
