HELP moding PSP

hey yall im new to this whole PSP thing and would like to see if maybe one of you kind peeps would help me out with this whole process ??

Perhaps you could start off with what PSP model you have, and what firmware.

I have a psp 1001 and its the newest firmware 6.20

pretty sure the new firmware cant be hacked. ill have to look that up tho. I had a weird way of modding.

Is their a way that I can downgrade my firmware? without blocking my PSP ??
