Yes, I recommend a custom firmware that still allows you to play your homebrew as well as play official sony games. You also get the new look to the firmware as well as running the processor at where where it should have been in the first place.

the latter has support for all the newer games and if you want the cool cxmb themes in it, i have a tutorial for that here i think.

It's very recommended you upgrade to the newest custom firmware, mainly because the only thing
that you might really enjoy is the fact that you can run any PS1 ISO on your PSP, and it's very easy too.

If Im not mistaken of skelator and some1 else, skelator does have a 3000 with 5.03 gen
