PSP HomeBrew Help for a Noobie

Good morning,

I was hoping you could help me out with my PSP. I have a regular PSP that I have had for about a year now (purchased brand new). I had heard about the PSP homebrew system, but never looked into it. I just updated the firmware lastnight to Sony's latest firmware (PSP firmware 4.00/4.01 ) and then discovered what the HomeBrew can do (allow me to backup my games to files and play them directly on my PSP through my memory stick (2gb). HELP! How can I do this? Can you also "download" games and play them too? What else can you do?

Any help on how to get started and what I would need to do would be greatly appreciated!

Unfortunately, now that you've updated to 4.0, you can't downgrade unless you have a friend with a modded PSP or version 1.5 PSP.

If that is the case, then follow this tutorial to downgrade your PSP:

http://www.pspbrew.com/forum/viewtopic. ... 08&start=0

Otherwise, you will need to buy a magic battery or pandoras battery, you can probably get them from eBay, but I'm not sure.

Is there a way I can downgrade the PSP firmware then?

Yes there is a way, if you would've actually read his post then you would've known that. All you need is a pandora's battery. You can make one using another modded PSP, you can hardmod one, or you can buy one. Try visiting that link then asking your questions ;)

Once you have custom firmware on your psp then you can play games and homebrew and all that good stuff that you normally couldn't do. Pretty much run custom code on your psp that wasn't made by Sony.

Watch your grammar Ace ;)

He means you can buy a modded battery of which to downgrade/flash your firmware with.

Whoa what a second, where did my post go? Someone f**king deleted my post...

Anyways, I know someone around here usually posts a link to a $10.50 battery that has free shipping or something. Can't remember who though...
