1. Yes, to play pirated games that you steal and cost the gaming industry money, you need to install a custom firmware on your psp.
2. If you follow the steps rights, sure.

Whenever I used a slim to make a pandora's battery using an original sized battery for a slim PSP, omg. omg. omg.
It was pretty complicated. I had to read 3 different tutorials on this site and mix and match steps.

bah i made a phat pandora battery first try, and it even sparked at me. It still fits in psp slim, but the cover wont close. But who closes the cover when using it?!?
i thought it was easy. Research was the hardest part imo.
and yes DCv3-5 work with slim. i think they are all compatible, hence the screen with show you what is happening.
I know with a few MMS the slim will just be black. You have to guess at what time to push buttons. Very scary imo.
Phat 3.71->pandora 1.50->3.90 m33 (Sold on Ebay, suckers)
Slim 3.71->semi-brick->Nand Recovery->DCv3->3.71->3.80 m33-2->3.90 m33-3->4.01 m33-2
Want cintro for 4.01 m33? get cintro_390and Autostart_V4.zip, just follow the readme.
