Help me plz, old firmware, haven't upgraded in 2 years...

So I used these forums a couple of years ago, back when the PSP was still new.

I have a fat PSP, I downgraded it to 1.50 and I can switch to 3.03 whenever I want (by using the recovery mode), this was back in the day... since I was content playing old games and buggy ps1 games.

Since I rarely play with my PSP (shame isn't it). I just left it like that until recently, I re-started getting back into it and I'm wondering if I can just upgrade this old 3.03 firmware/1.50 to the new one.

I think it's 3.90 m33-3. Or is it only slim psp's that can do that?

I've been out of the whole homebrew/firmware deal for a couple of years so I don't know what's going on anymore. I tried reading old threads but everything seems too confusing.

My goal is to be able to play ff7 crisis core on my psp and still be able to play ps1 games and old school games like NES and all that good stuff I have in 1.50 now.

Also, what is required to play ISO games of UMD's? I have a psp but I don't even own 1 UMD...I just bought it for the homebrews :P

You need to update to 3.71M33 then go to 3.90M33-3.

http://dark-alex.org
I'm a little tired so. Click on the link that says PSP, and download the 3.71M33 update, and the 3.90M33-3 update. Obtain these files 3.90 EBOOT 3.71 EBOOT and do what the installer says.

Wait... How is your PSP 1.50/3.03? Is it 1.50 with 3.03 devhook or something like that? You need to be at 1.50 to update.

I seriously don't remember what I did, I used the Hen-D way because it was the "newer" type of fat PSP's. The tutorial I used is still in this forum somewhere.

I guess I'm supposed to leave it at 1.50 mode, throw in the 3.71 update then the 3.90m33...

Like I said, I have no clue what these new versions have/can do. So I'll assume I'll still be able to play NES,SNES and other old stuff with those newer firmwares.

Okay from here you need to go to 3.52M33 then to 3.90M33-3. Ignore the 3.71 link above and Obtain the 1.50 EBOOT and the 3.52 EBOOT Rename both to 150.PBP and 352.PBP and place in the root of your memory stick. Run the M33 creator that came with the 3.52M33 package and then run the updater.

With the 3.90M33-3 package put the UPDATE folder in the game folder and then obtain the 3.90 EBOOT from the link above and rename it to 390.PBP. Place it in the UPDATE folder and run the installer.

Thats it.

I just places both the 150.pbp and 352.pbp in the root of my mem stick. I didn't place them insideany folder. So I went to check if I saw it inside my menu and nothing comes up. Maybe I'm supposed to put it inside the PSP folder.

edit, it doesnt work

You need to download the 3.52M33 updater as well. The link to Dark-Alex.org is above. Click on the PSP banner and get the release of 3.52M33
Obtain the 3.52M33-4 update as well, do that after you update to the regular 3.52M33.

IMPORTANT: Update to 3.52M33-4 before going to 3.90M33-3 or you will brick.

still didn't work for me, but it's cool...I'll just stick to the old version. Dunno if it's because I have the old psp fat versions with the gold digits in the back of the UMD slot.

bah, thanks for your time anyways.

still doesn't work, I'm pretty sure you're forgetting to mention a thing or two. Don't forget I don't change firmwares twice a day like some of you guys in the forums.

Okay, Put the folder "M33CREATOR" in the GAME folder. Place the 150.PBP and 352.PBP files in the M33CREATOR folder. Run it.

After it makes the updater run it. When it finishes press x to exit(If you don't press x and instead take out the battery or press the power switch you will brick).
