DCv5 causing odd side effects

Not too long ago, I upgraded to 4.01m33. Because it wouldn't work well with IRshell, I decided to downgrade using Despertar version 5. When I finished, something odd happened. All of my settings were changed to the exact same way they were when I set up the memory stick used with UPMS. I'm worried here, if I use this on another PSP, it may give them my settings and potentially corrupt their IDstorage. Advice? Seriously, I don't want to risk any damage to anybody's PSP.

Any idea why? I recall one incident where a friend of mine borrowed my MS/battery, used DCv5, and suddenly was unable to read UMDs. I don't know what he did other than DCv5 (he did seem confused). And the worst part: keycleaner read his mobo version as my version, and the settings and mac address were identical. If it really only transfers/doesn't reset settings, then he likely flashed my NAND backup onto his PSP accidentally.

Maybe a region problem?
Was his a different region?
