Interesting, well if the screen is still blurry I don't think its worth buying but cool if they did hack it.

Yes, it has been hacked, but there has been no word on whether or not there's a magic memory stick working on them. Plus the screen issue. If you hack a piece of s**t does it make it better, or is it now just a hacked piece of s**t?

I still really dont like that screen.. the only thing i do like about it is the reduced glare in the sunlight. The psp 1000 is IMPOSSIBLE to see outside. So is there a CFW 3000 yet?

Like I said, there hasn't been anything yet about booting a magic memory stick. All they have managed to do (as far as we know) is just get the psp into service mode. Now comes the challenge of getting a bootable memory stick.

is this just the Ratchet and clank 3000 or does it work for all of the 3000s?

Woundn't it read a specific file from the memory card for service mode?
There's no built-in service mode in any model of the PSP unless they have CFW on them.

And, yeah. This is pretty cool.

Service mode, not recovery mode. There's a difference.

The whole reason the Pandora battery worked is because Sony designed the PSP that way. They could mass produce the PSP without having to load the firmware onto the flash chip until somewhere toward the end of the production line. This 'service mode' is what allowed Sony to load the firmware. With a special battery (or machine acting as a battery) the PSP could be instructed to load from the MS slot instead of the onboard flash, and boom, you now have a PSP ready to be shipped off to stores.

This also simplified repair processes. Flash is accidentally corrupted during an update? No problem! Send it to Sony and they can have your PSP fixed in a jiffy without even opening the sucker up!

So yes, the new motherboard has been hacked by finding the new service mode route... but the problem of creating a memory stick that this new service mode will read remains a problem.

The fact that this can work with the late-gen 2000's though is very promising. I'm looking forward to this warily, but definitely with anticipation. However, I will most likely wait till there is a high success rate until I bite.

As far as I know, the motherboard's security on the late 2000 and 3000 is the same.

Don't know if anyone saw DAX's comments floating around, but he commented about this battery. According to him, just because the light turns on, doesn't necessarily mean that you've actually entered into service mode. For all we know, this battery could do absolutely nothing except just turn on the stupid LED. Because we have no way of running a magic memory stick on these motherboards, we don't really know anything.
