New PSP Model...The PSP PLEXI!!

Alien_X decided to drop by our forums to show us his latest project. The PSP Plexi! If you haven't already guessed from the picture above, Alien gutted his PSP, piggybacked the control points and mounted it all to a sheet of plexi glass. Not only that but the main controls are controlled by a modified PS2 controller...

"The main controlling is done via a Modified PS2 controller, that Plugs in VIA the DSUB 25 pin connector, but also due to the boards plug and play nature, I could make an array of tactile switches to control it if the need arises.

I spent alot of time on this project, and literally Blood sweat and Tears, So please tell me what you think. "

For anyone interested, Alien also mentions that this PSP Plexi will be for sale in the near future.

So what are you waiting for!?! Go on, check it out and make sure to leave some comments for Alien.

PSP-3000 Screen Issues

Well...looks like Sony messed up yet again! Yes indeed those are scan lines you are seeing on the brand spanking new 3000 model PSP. When confronted about the issue, an SCEJ representative responded with...

"the interlacing-like lines are just "features" of the new LCD, and currently, there are no plans to fix it with a future software update since it is in the hardware."

I guess a lot of people who were considering purchasing this new model or asking for it for the upcoming christmas holiday now have to think about if this is something they're really willing to live with.

Memory Prices on the Cheap?
8gb

It's well known that, due to how the market flows, older technology will become cheaper over time. In the field of memory, prices have been dropping lower and lower for quite some time. Newer products such as the 16gb memory stick pro duo have dropped prices considerably for lower capacity memory cards. The question you have to ask yourself is... well... "just exactly WHAT does 'lower capacity' mean anyways!? Consider this. If you bought a 1gb memory stick pro duo in 2005, in the months after the PSP was released, you would have been shelling out anywhere from $85-130. I personally paid $92 for a 1gb card back then. Of course, I knew prices would drop, but wow. While looking over prices at a non- affiliated and very much unrelated website, Newegg.com, I was able to find 8gb memory stick pro duo cards for $54.99. The 4gb models are definitely a bargain! If you're in the market for memory, the time for you to buy might just be right now! For the price I paid for 1gb 3 years ago, I can pretty much get 16gb worth of space today. Memory prices are on the cheap, so if you need the space, it's affordable. At such low prices, you really can't go wrong. Get it and game!

Zx-81 Releases PSPHUGO v1.0.1
Turbo Grafx 16

I'm sure if you do a google-search for "Old School", you'll come up with movie hits and such, but I bet that if you keep on looking, you'll find a picture of Zx-81. No really... just keep checking the pages.

This guy is hands-down one of the most renowned emulator developers on the PSP scene and probably holds the record for the most emulators developed/ ported successfully. In any sense, here he is again with a wonderful ported emulator of the Turbo Grafx 16 console. Some people are saying that certain games are a little buggy or cause slowdowns in graphics or audio in certain parts, but that's to be expected. This is a tweaked initial release of this emulator, but that doesn't mean that it's not worth it.

RACE! PSP v2.0

RACE! PSP v2.0

RACE! PSP has now reached version 2.0. The project was picked up by uberjack but was originally started on the PC by it's main creator, flavor. This particular emulator is a very fast and unfortunately, still a little premature. Save states are not yet supported, however, information is saved on the flash memory when returning to the emulator's menu or returning to the XMB. Look out for this one, guys! It's certainly going places.

PSP Filer Version 5.6

PSP Filer 5.6

Hot off the press comes the new release of PSP Filer. This fantastic program, if you didn't already know, is one powerful piece of homebrew ingenuity. For instance, you can move files around, view UMD files, view flash1 and flash0 files, play MP3/WAV files, view text files and so much more. PSP Filer has come a long way thanks to homebrew developer, Mediumgauge. This version is more or less a bug fix from version 5.5 released just the other day, so get this newer and more stable version and get to tinkering.

Red Squirrel

After a long wait, Homebrew Developer, Red Squirrel, is coming back with his Alternative VSHMenù version 6.0. Red, was ready to release it but, he decided to make some changes. He quote
“after all, you're waiting from a month, another week will not kill you ”
As Red been on his “holiday”, he have been watching PSPs News, and he has discovered the PSP-3000, plus he also saw the features of the new PSP. One feature he took notes on was the “Auto USB Connection Function”. When he took notes on that he decided to add that to his VSHMenù, and make it available for the 1000, and 2000 models. This will be the 6.0 Changelog:
1.    Added FIVE new background colors
2.     Now Alternative VSHMenù cannot be started before of 5 seconds: in this way you can avoid console crashes when you accidentally start it during coldboot or returning from games.
3.    Now there will be a pause of about one second when you exit from A. VSHMenù: in this way your choice will not have any effect on XMB (like happened in past).
4.    Changed HIDE MAC ADDRESS function in AUTO USB CONNECTION: if you enable it, USB connection will be enabling always in XMB! In this way when you connect a USB cable your PSP will be connected to your PC/PS3 without you have to press on special icon! (Like in PSP-3000).
5.    Changed CXMB PLUGIN function in LANGUAGE: now you can select your language from the menu of A. VSHMenù! In this first version, there will be only two languages: Italian and English.
6.    Changed M33 VSHMENU in SELECT KEY: now you can choose what to associate to SELECT key in XMB (M33 VSHMenù, a Homebrew, Nothing).
7.    Erased all difference of code between CF 3.90/3.95GEN/4.01M33: now plugin will be the same in all CFs.
8.    Added a homebrew-flasher for the plugin: it will flash the Alternative VSHMenù in your Flash' without other steps!
“Now I’m working on the Italian translation plugin, and then I will test it for some days. If all goes well, I will release the new version! ”

Multi-Die v. 1
Multi-Die

Sometimes we all need to satisfy our inner nerd.
Well, maybe not all of us... but definitly some.
For that reason, homebrew developer, crait, has
performed a homebrew-developing trifecta with
his release of Multi-Die v. 1. It's essentially a
random number generator for the users amount
of die faces that he/ she chooses. You can simulate
rolling a coin with this program as well by simply
adding only 2 numbers, one for each coin face.

well as download links, click the link below.

ChildBeGone V. 1

ChildBeGoneHave you ever stolen candy from a baby? Have you ever thought about it? Well homebrew developer, crait , allows you to come close to that experience with his very first release of ChildBeGone. With this program you can "keep other people* from seeing your private files, updating your PSP, deleting your files, or generally playing with your PSP while you are not watching".

While it's technically not stealing candy from a baby, it's at least stealing the opportunity for someone to enjoy your PSP without your permission! You may even make someone end up like the poor little boy in this article. That's gotta get your evil juices flowing!

What's particularly special about this program is that you can display your own personal message to someone who is trying to use your PSP. Have a younger sibling and want to tell them off? You get the picture.

Smarcyclem V. 0.33
Smarcyclem
Here's another release of Smarcyclem from forum member, crait . Smarcyclem is an emulator for the "Smart Cycle Physical Learning Arcade System". It's an educational video gaming system and is currently the only emulator of its kind for this particular platform.

There are few problems known at this time. Most of the time the emulator runs full speed without problems, but one game in particular, "Letter Creek", tends to have audio issues.

Release: TVersity 1.0.0.3 RC2

TVersityTVersity 1.0 RC2 has just been released lately, with some much needed features added, as well as some enjoyable ones. One of my most favorite changes has to be the support for album art. The image isn't limited to the icon that Windows Media Player or Winamp produce, but you can also use your own art by using the naming convention included in the readme. While this release isn't a full on v1.0 release, it is still very close. The album art interface is also not limited to Wiis but any HTML (PS3's, Blackberries, iPhones, PSP's, etc.) and Flash (Wii!) interface. Here is the changelog for your viewing pleasure:

Quote:
New Features:
-Album art support is now available and is compatible with the Sony PS3 as well as with the HTML interface (PSP, iPhone, Blackberry, etc.) and flash interface (Wii). Album art relies on JPEG files conforming to certain naming conventions that are present in the same folder as music tracks. These files can be created by either Windows Media Player or WinAmp and TVersity will pick them up, or users can add them manually.
-Individual YouTube videos can now be added by pointing the browser to a specific video on YouTube and dragging and dropping the address bar icon to TVersity (or copying and pasting the URL).

Bug Fixes:
-MShare now refreshes as fast as it was in 0.9.11.4.
-No files are periodically added to the Temporary Internet Files folder while the GUI is running (browser caching was turned off).
-Fix crashes when adding/refreshing some FLAC and some MP3 files.
-Flash interface is now more reliable when switching from one live stream to another and then going back to first one.
-TVersity service was failing to start on machines that had a non ASCII character in their hostname.
