Why is my FCEUltra not working?

I did everything as said in the WiiBrew Beginners guide. I got the homebrew channel loaded. When it starts up I select FCEUltra I sync up the controller, when I select load new game it goes to a screen with colored horizontal lines. Every option goes to this. What did I do wrong?

I was hitting the wrong button on the Wii Remote. Thats another problem in itself. Any help there?
