playing burned dvds doesn't interest me...

what does interest me (thrills me actually) is the ability to play all my n64 roms from an sd card.

i have the original wii and original twilight princess released on day one so can i make my wii boot up and show a few channels (1 to play n64 roms, 1 to play snes roms, etc.) all off an sd card?

thanks in advance for any links to tutorials or problems i should expect

The compatibility for Wii64, the N64 emulator is really bad. It is still in beta stages and is being worked on. It's going to be a while until they produce a playable emulator.

I suggest you use your N64 to play N64 games at the moment. Or get an original Xbox.

thanks

ok thanks for the quick and candid reply.

how about snes and/or nes emulation on the wii?

are there any risks to installing the softmod or is it pretty easy to undo?

haven't really been following what is going on in the wii space since wiicr which i got working but was a little too much setup to keep it up to date.

just looking for an excuse to try modding my wii but it has to be something other than playing burned discs which i won't ever do.

There is no softmod required to run emulators... you aren't actually modifying anything on the WIi when you use homebrew. Providing you have a system version of 3.4 or under you can install the Homebrew Channel. The homebrew channel is a loader and for basic homebrew is the only thing actually installed on your Wii. As far as the homebrew programs and such go, they are only on the SD card, so there's no chance of messing your Wii up unless you are using a program that modifies your system files. Emulators don't, so you are good.

As far as I know SNES and NES emulators run fine. I haven't touched my Wii in forever. Between a lac time even being home, gym, ps3, and my iphone, the wii gets no lovin.
